Program Supervisor, Preschool 2 Teacher

JESSICA HOUSE
B.A., R.E.C.E.

From a young age, Jess displayed a compassionate and empathetic nature. She has always had a desire to assist and support those in need and chooses to concentrate on individuals' strengths and the positive aspects of each situation she encounters. This optimistic mindset, coupled with an unwavering curiosity, has consistently drawn her to the great outdoors, where she can appreciate the beauty of nature - whether she is out for a hike, walking her dog or out exploring on her kayak.

Jess embarked on her academic journey at the University of Waterloo, enrolling in the Honours Social Development Studies program with a specialization in social work and individual well-being. Shortly after commencing her apprenticeship with the Get Ready for School™ program at Strong Start® Charitable Organization, she discovered her passion for working with children. Through these experiences, Jess developed a focus on forming meaningful connections with each child while providing them with opportunities to thrive in developmentally appropriate, play-based environments.

In 2018, Jess received a warm welcome into the North 44° Academy community and helped participate in the opening of the preschool 2 classroom. She quickly connected with the environment and subsequently made the decision to pursue Early Childhood Education at Cambrian College through their alternate delivery program (ECAD). The ECAD program caters to individuals already employed in the childcare field, allowing Jess to complete her studies on a full-time basis while continuing her full-time work at North 44° Academy. This program proved to be tremendously enriching, and Jess obtained her registered ECE status in 2021.

Jess brings a deep passion for outdoor education and a wealth of experience working with young children, and she is enthusiastic about bringing her knowledge and skills into the Preschool 2 classroom. She is dedicated to establishing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that cultivates a love for learning and exploration.

Jess is looking forward to stepping into the role of supervisor in September 2023, while remaining in program with the Preschool 2 group for most of the day. She also values the opportunity to connect with the families of North 44° Academy throughout the year, so please feel welcome to visit and introduce yourself!
